Job Description
Work in a full-time role for a Mechanical Designer at Guardell located in Chennai, focused on commercial vehicle systems.
Design and model heavy vehicle structural components, chassis layouts, and body frameworks for Trucks & Trailers.
Utilize SolidWorks and AutoCAD to draft 3D models, fabrication blueprints, and detailed 2D engineering drawings.
Apply core Design engineering concepts to perform strength evaluations, material selection, and fitting tolerances.
Coordinate with shop-floor fabrication teams to guide prototyping, assembly line setup, and physical testing.
Modify existing vehicle component designs to improve structural durability, payload efficiency, and ease of assembly.
Maintain clean design release archives, bill of materials (BOM), and revision history records.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Automobile Engineering, or relevant engineering disciplines.
3–5 Yrs of experience in mechanical design engineering, specifically within heavy vehicle, truck, trailer, or automotive fabrication sectors.
High proficiency in 3D modeling and drafting tools such as SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
Practical understanding of heavy vehicle structures, sheet metal fabrication, and mechanical assembly practices.
